Details: For sale is my 1997 Volvo 850 T-5 Turbo 110K milesI am from Lawrence and recently purchased this car on an extended vacation in San Diego. A few weeks ago, I drove it 1,500 miles back to Kansas with no problems at all.I have owned an 850 and S70 (both of which I bought brand new). I actually like the 850 better. Allegedly, it´s the same car, but I disagree. I think the 850 is stiffer (a good thing) and that the S70 has more ´Ford´ in the car. I thought I would fix the car up and keep it, but have changed my mind.Here´s the good:Low miles (average of 8K per year). Good engine and transmission.Immediately after purchasing the car, I had the timing belt and water pump changed by a certified Volvo mechanic (I have receipt for $531.91).The turbo makes her fast.Newly upholstered seats - the leather was dry and cracked. I had them recovered in a two-tone color scheme (it´s vinyl, not leather, but still looks good - that was $500). The seat heaters still work.New battery and srut housing.The car is 15 years old and not perfect, so here is what is wrong or less than perfect.The third brake light doesn´t work, which makes the light-out warning light come on when you step on the brake. I haven´t tried to fix it.There is dent in the driver´s side fender (I actually have an email out to someone who has the same color 850 they are parting out, so you could just install the same color fender for cheap... I´ll update my ad after I receive a response from the seller).The clear-coat is fading in a few spots (as could be expected in a 15 year old car).Car could use new brakes -- there is a bit of rotor wobble, but I have purchased 4 new rotors and pads (drilled and slotted) for $180. If I´m going to sell the car, I don´t want to pay to have the brakes done -- these brakes are included in the price.The heater/air conditioner works great, but it only comes out the front vents and defrost. The climate control servo,which controls the ventilation system,needs replacing. There is a servo for $34.95 on eBay. The part isn´t expensive, but you have to take apart the dash, which is time consuming.The check engine light is on. I had a mechanic hook up the computer up, and it said that it was a bad mass airflow sensor. I bought a new mass airflow sensor, and the light went off for about a day, but then came back on. The reason I think this is happening is because it needs a new fuel filler neck ($45 on eBay)When you fill the gas tank 100% full, it may leak some - maybe a cup - and then stop. I filled the car up with gas full about 6 times, and it leaked a little 3 times. If you fill it up more after the pump auto-shuts off, it will definitely leak a little. Sometimes after the the pump auto-shut off, it did leak, other times, it did not. Again, the leak issue is only if it´s 100% or more full -- and even then it only leaks a little and stops. Because the car is fuel injected, the system must be pressurized for everything to display OK in the computer. Even a little leak will cause the computer to register a ´mixture´ error. However, the car still drives fine.I outlined everything I know what is wrong with the car. Details: This volvo is in good running condition. It starts right up and drives smooth. We have kept up on oil changes. We purchased it at 113,000 miles from a dealer who got it from a one owner. It currently has 173,000 miles on it. We drive it regulary from Manhattan to Kansas City and back with no problems. We just did a 500 mile round trip! It has black leather interior, heated power seats, sun roof, cd player, power locks and windows-all these features work great! I would not consider the car to look flawless, but definitely very good. We put new front tires on in November. I just replaced the thermostat (December). (It had hail damage in April 2010 on the top of the body, right front headlight casing(headlight and turn signal were not damaged, only the plastic casing), and windshield-We replaced the windshield) It has a pretty good oil leak due to the pcv valve being plugged. Just had it diagnosed at Ekart Auto and was told it would be in the $500 range to replace the valve. It still drives very good and is a solid car as long as you check the oil and keep it full. We love this car and really do not want to sell it, but we need the cash. Good engine and transmission.Immediately after purchasing the car, I had the timing belt and water pump changed by a certified Volvo mechanic (I have receipt for $531.91).The turbo makes her fast.Newly upholstered seats - the leather was dry and cracked. I had them recovered in a two-tone color scheme (it´s vinyl, not leather, but still looks good - that was $500). Details: 1994 Volvo 850 Base 2.4L FWD, 150k mile sedan in a very nice silver. A couple of dings, scratches, marks, but nothing bad. Interior is very nice. Front leather needs a little conditioning. Airbag cover needs re gluing. Other than that, the interior is immaculate! I drove the car home! Had a bad head gasket. Pulling the cams out, I cracked the head, so I decided to get a low mileage motor. Had one shipped in from Detroit with a 30 day warranty. Has 75k on it. The current motor is torn all the way down and ready to come out! Just needs another hour of persuading and it will be free. Trans in perfect condition. Just drop the motor in and do a brake job and you´ve got an excellent later model safe sedan. I would finish it but I just got a new job that starts next week and will not be having the time to mess with it, nor the space. My loss, your gain! I´m only trying to break even on it. Willing to part trade for a good GT40p 5.0 complete and in good running condition, or for a diesel 4x4 pickup with money on top on my end. Price is close to firm but shoot an offer.
