At that time the car had less than 97,000 mi, at 98,000 mi the odometer stopped working. We drove it minimally for about a year and a half. We haven´t driven it in about a year simply because it hasn´t been practical for us. At this time the car needs a new battery, an oil change and needs to be inspected. It easily passed inspection about a year and a half ago.In 2009 the Heater Core went and we had it fixed at Alan Auto (now the heat and cold are reversed but works great). Currently there are Hakkapelitta Q´s on her. She has some minimal rust that needs a little TLC (sand, coat, paint) but the under belly has been coated by the previous owner. There is a small leak of power steering fluid from the reservoir hose which can be replaced or repaired. The previous owner suggested that new pads and rotors all the way around, while in no way urgent, would likely be the next thing to do. Other than that this car is in amazing condition and so fun to drive!The owner before us purchased the car in 2007 from a dealer in Denver and said that it had sat in a barn for 11-12 years in upstate NY. She worked on it to restore it to be a daily driver but it would obviously make an excellent total restoration.Here are notes from the previous owner.I purchased the car over a year ago (2007) and have been replacing key mechanical parts to ensure it remains running strong for years. The engine is a stock B20F (fuel injected) and is strong and powerful. Transmission is automatic with power steering. The car has limited slip differential and is, of course, rear-wheel drive. Gas mileage averages 25mpg.Exterior is in good condition with some minor blemishes. The car has been painted but there are a few rust spots. The original color was #110 Cypress Green.Interior is in good condition. Brown carpet and door panels. The front seats have been replaced with Volvo 240 seats which are very comfortable. Dash is intact and all gauges (except for the Odometer now) work. Dash pad has one split. Clock does not work. A CD player is installed with Realistic speakers. AC is not hooked up.The previous owner focused on improving mechanical aspects and suspension of the car. Details: First year (in the states) of the 240 series body and last year volvo used the B-20 engine. Also being a GL (sunroof, full gauges, originally with leather interior, body stripes and built-in fog lamps) one of the rarest around. Hadn´t been on the road since 1987 and, although the clock just recently stopped working (@ 79K), is still a very low-mileage car. I have only driven it a few hundred miles since painting it up and getting it going (the odometer was still working then). The rear quarters had some rust as well as the top of the L/F fender...all welded with new metal. I replaced the seats with ones from a 142 and refinished the exterior with a custom color (original color was sandstone). Running gear is B-20 with Bosch mechanical fuel injection coupled with a standard 4-speed with auto overdrive. The only items changed are (a) the ignition (electronic didn´t work so I replaced it with a points system) and (b) smog pump is disconnected.It needs the exhaust-to-manifold gasket replaced, a new set of plugs, points, and plug wires. It also needs tires. Although good tread, they are badly weathered (dating back to the eighties) and probably not very safe. Except for the clock and odometer, everything else is functional. I drive it occasionally to cruise-ins, etc.Asking 2950 obo. That doesn´t mean 1500 or will I take payments ...or will I take your beat up iron in trade. It has a Maine registration sticker good until 11/12. I have been restoring this vehicle over the past several months. It needs a front left bushing and rear breaks. There is an oil leak that could be from the head gasket or cam seal which was not determined from ´Alan´s Auto´s´ (Volvo specialist) Vehicle Maintenance Report which I can provide. The new battery is being held in place with a bungee cord. The glove box knob fell off (original one in glove box) and is being held up with a small bungee cord. The antenna is not attached but I have the original one and the left front headlight is a little loose. It has a completely restored shifter, new front tires, front left tie rod, new exhaust kit, muffler and header pipe, front end alignment, spark plug wires, flame trap cleaned, new windshield wiper motor, engine and transmission mounts replaced, new fuel pump relay (original one in glove box), new spark plugs and wires, new brake lights, new fuel filter, new battery and voltage regulator, tail shaft seal, gasket and bushing replaced, waterpump seal and gaskets replaced. This vehicle has a solid body and *very* low miles for the year. I will be sad to see it go, but my time has come to part ways. I recommend looking at www.volvoforums.com for more information on the year and make of this vehicle and if your planning on doing the work on your own to order parts from www.fcpgroton.com.
