Details: Selling my 1984 Volvo 240 Sedan which I bought from the second owner. Both of the two previous owners were older couples and took care of this car whenever something happened. I currently have all the records for the car dating back to 1986 when the car was purchased new off the lot. I was informed that it was repainted the original color in 1990 but sat outside in the sun for quite awhile; causing the paint to oxidize. The outside of the car is near perfect except for one little indent right behind the driver side turn signal, and the paint has this worn/faded look but still hols a good shine in some spots (which is something I like about the car). Odometer broke at around 170,000 miles but I would guess that it has about 205,000 miles on it now. Runs and drives great. Newer tires and wheels. Cut springs to make it ride a little bit stiffer. Interior is all there and is blue in color. Dash has cracks in it, but expected for a car that 25+ years old. There is no rips in the seats and the back seat looks as if it´s never been used. Details: I have a 1990 Volvo 740 Turbo Wagon for sale. I bought this car back in October and I´m selling it because I want a smaller car. I have put over $1,100.00 into it. It runs and drives perfectly and I have had no mechanical problems whatsoever. I got new brakes, a new caliper, two new tires, and a new crankshaft sensor. It is a really strong running little wagon with a sunroof, a rack, fog lights (that are currently not wired) and a turbo charger. It gets about 17-20 miles per gallon and is a perfect car to but that has no immediate issues. Like I said the engine is perfect, still running strong. The car has 246,000 miles on it but it is a Volvo and they have been known to run much longer. The problems with the car are all cosmetic ones that don´t effect how the car functions. The rear panel has a dent that does not look bad, there are the usual little scratches that you find on a 22 year old car, the sun roof works but does take a little push to close all the way, the gas meter does not work but I just fill it up every 200 miles, the left front blinker needs to be rewired (cost about 20 bucks) and there is no radio in the car and the glove box does not lock. One other problem is that the front right tie-rod is loose, but I asked a mechanic and he said there was no need to replace it and that the only affect it would have on the car is that it will wear the front tiers to the inside insted of evenly. It´s a simple repair, if you know how to tinker with Volvos. Also, the folks at Vol-tech offered a high-ball estimate of somewhere between $100-200. This depends on whether they have to disassemble this shifter and then reassemble it in order to correct the linkage, or are able to trade this one out with a used one.The tags are expired and the car is not currently insured! I bought the car in Portland in 2010. I´m selling it now because I´m too broke to drive a car, plus I´m moving back east and don´t want to bother with parking in Chicago. Details: 1993 Volvo 960 6 cylinder Automatic transmission Odometer is accurate and reads 160,XXX. Asking price is $950 obo. The good - *She´s been my solid daily driver for over a year. *tags are good for 10 more months. I´ve had a lot of work done on her in the past year, all by professional and reputable shops and have receipts for: *brakes *belt *inner steering rod replacement. *I also have years of other major receipts from a prior owner. *The trunk is spacious and accommodates a 200 lb. man with plenty of room to spare (see pictures). *The radio is not too shabby, gets good reception, and there is a 5 disk changer that may work but I don´t own a single CD to prove it. The tape deck for sure works, as I use a tape adapter (included) to play my iPod. *It has a jack, and I´m positive it works because I´ve used it, however, the spare tire does not look good and should probably not be used. *It´s a good dog car, muddy paw prints wipe right off the vinyl. *Oh there´s also a built in booster seat that you probably will never use. *She is just fine on road trips. Last summer I took her to Grants Pass, Astoria, etc.The bad - *reconstructed title. Due to the accident that caused the title brand, there is some funny business going on up front in the grill area. see pics.*I replaced the inner steering rod at the recommendation of the V-shop, and it drives better/quieter but there´s an axle-y noise that sounds like something still needs to be fixed in there. It has been making this sound the entire time I´ve had it and has not changed in severity. It happens only when I´m going 5-15 mph. Once I hit 20 or drop below 5, the noise goes away. A little persistance would likely remedy this, however, since she kept rollin´ just fine, I gave up. *The KEY is STUCK in the ignition, as of last week. I have 2 keys, one to lock/unlock, and the one that never leaves the ignition. There´s also a key next to the ignition that comes out, and without it, the car won´t start. I pull that one out so people don´t steal it. Not that they´d want to. Based on common problems with the 900 series and the behavior of this vehicle, I´m pretty sure it´s a shiftlock override issue. If you can get it out, then you´ve got yourself 2 keys (normally, both keys work in the trunk, doors, and ignition).*There is a crack on the passenger side windshield. It does not obstruct the drivers vision and hasn´t grown since I got the car. *The hood is tied down. Believe it or not, the hood latches and the red tie is just my safety net. *The headlights are obviously aftermarket but the ARE legal. Upfront and honest - Her face is too much for some people to bear. I have learned to embrace it and named her Madonna (gap toothed, blonde, old, but still performs impressively). Sorry to be long winded but I am including lots of info and pictures because I´d hate to waste anyones time. As far as looking at it, I am fairly flexible with the when and where. If you´re ok with all the ´bad´ stuff in the ad, then I doubt you will be disappointed. Come on over, bring your friends, bring any diagnostic tools, leave me collateral and take her for a wicked test drive. This is a solid, safe care for someone who wants an affordable and reliable car now with the option to fix up later (my original intention). I am selling Madonna because I do not need a car this big. I am a student with no children, no local relatives and just don´t need all those empty seats. I am not in a huge hurry to sell. Details: I have a 1980 VOlvo 240 DL that has been sitting for about a year now and needs to be gone from my house. She is a beauty and had an amazing summer with her with camping, mountain biking, etc. Her name is Suzy Blue and she was a brilliant car for me until the engine blew on me. I just haven´t had the time or the money really to put into getting a head job and get the engine rebuilt.I have asked for a couple of quotes for this job and they run anywhere from $1,500-$1,900 and then the vehicle will be ready to go. Then I spoke with some Volvo enthusiasts that said that I could get it done for a lot less if I did it myself or sold it to someone who had the tools and know how to do it themselves, rather than paying the shop rates. So, I would rather have someone take this on as a project car and put their heart and soul into it and come out with a beautiful ride that they can keep or resell. I am asking $1,200 and have lowered it to $800 and not expecting to get rid of it for $200-$400, as this is the general consensus from the shop guys as well as some of the Volvo enthusiasts I have conferred with. I was told by two Volvo technicians the following in order to have her up and running:take the engine to the machine shop and get it rebuilt or buy a remanufactured engineThe hours would be anywhere from 5-8 hours if nothing goes wrong to put the engine inYou could get a crate motor (they ship the motor to you and it has a guaranty and warranty) for about $600-800IT would take around 4-5 hours to take the whole engine out and then the cleaning and to put it back in once rebuilt or delivered, another 4-8 hours.So, if you had a whole weekend to work on it and had the engine rebuilt or delivered, you could have the whole car up and running in under $900 if you were to do it yourself. The condition of the interior is quite nice and the body is in very good shape as well with the exception of very minor dings here and there. Overall, when she is all shined up and on the road- there area lot of people who appreciate her classic look.Take a look at the pics and see what you think. Details: The car has 150,500 miles as of now. This has been my daily driver for the last 2 months. It´s a great car, I´m just a jeep/truck kind of guy. I bought it from Brooks Motor Company. The Carfax was clean, clean title. I bought it for $5000 and put in about $1500. I had the timing belt, catalytic converters (2 of them), head gaskets, and spark plugs replaced. I put in a JVC stereo with bluetooth and has tweeters in it, and wiring for a sound system. It comes with a set of studded tires that has about 100 miles on them and the tires I had put on have about 2,000 miles on them. It is a nice ride, a 1.9 turbo. gets about 21mpg city and 30mpg highway. Takes premium gas. The cons:The alignment could use adjustment because it pulls to the right after a hard acceleration.Vibration in the steering wheel at about 65mph. The tires have been balanced but it still does it, I have no clue what it could be.The color is yellow (I find it a con because I despise yellow but it has wonderful ratings).Being a Volvo the check engine light comes on for the smallest thing and usually is just phantom codes so there is never anything.$6500 obo.
